Like most folk rhymes, songs, stories etc this has changed over time and place. However I would like to suggest again that the idea that the rhyme was anything to do with the plague/black death is probably not true. I think somebody suggested it as an idea many years ago and it has become accepted without any real evidence that there is a connection. Many old nursery rhymes do have meanings of course but I think the true meaning of this one is now lost.

ya thats why they changed it up a little bit. but the actual song is about the plague. “ring around the rosie”-they used to have a circle of roses imprinted on their arms.”a pocket full of posies”-they used to put posies on the graves. “ashes to ashes we all fall down”- they had to burn the dead bodies of the plague victims.
