For those who may not know, the picture in the background is of Joe Raposo, who wrote and sang many of the songs from Sesame Street, including the theme song. Some of his other songs are “C is for Cookie,” “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” and “Sing, Sing A Song.”
I’ll never forget this clip! Never, never NEVER!!
this is AWESOME
Same here. Kermit interviewing Don Music was the best scenes he did for Sesame Street News. Don Music was a perfectionist like every great musician. He was just so funny when he messed up.
the vaudeville guys who come in at 2:35…brilliant! lol… and kermit’s faces whenever he would do frog on the street interviews…sigh… WE MISS YOU JIM HENSON!!! xo
we had a piano…and although it wasn’t often, once in a while, my darling parents would let me shout, “Oh, I’ll never get this song…never, Never, NEVER…” and pound my head down on the keys… my wonderful parents…both educators.
“WHY?”
“Um, it holds up his pants…”
“Of course! Y!”
Funny stuff
This guy used to really creep me out when I was little. I used to cringe each time he banged his head on the piano, thinking how much that would hurt.
is that the muppet news flash reporter
Sorry to dissapoint you, but I believe it’s true. My siblings and I used to imitate him when we were younger, and so did lots of our friends.
OMG!!!I remember him!!!
richard hunt
I used to laugh when he banged his head
I guess it depends on the personality type ^^
I use to scream the letters out to him and crack up……”T, man!” LOL
anybody know who was the voice for don music?
Hmm very catchy version of the alphabet! Do do do do do
I think it’s fitting that Mr. Johnson appears in this because one thing he and Don Music have in common is being frequent victims of frustration, though for different reasons. I think it would be cool if we saw them together more often. Lord Chatterly too. The three of them could share their frustrations with each other. And it would also be neat if they did their own Muppet/Kid moments, asking kids what makes them frustrated and telling them about their frustrations.
Bullseye! And this is what I believed for years. The kids hurting themselves by banging their heads on pianos, walls, etc. is most likely nonsense. It’s simple. Richard Hunt died. They couldn’t find a suitable vocal replacement for Don Music. The baker films were not pulled because they terrified kids. They were pulled because they were dated by the 80s. I wish Sesame Workshop would tell the true stories instead of the nonsense that they put into fluff books like Sesame Unpaved.
Like many who have posted here I, too, used to dread (as a child) all those incidents where Don Music banged his head against the piano keyboard. Then one day, my dad happened to watch one such episode along with my sister and myself — and laughed like crazy. I then realized just how funny it really was — and ever since, have looked back upon such incidents with amusement (sometimes even laughing at the memory).
Man I used to crack up when he bashed his head on the piano……I can’t believe I’m watching this. Do you have “Mary Had a Little Lamb?”
i remember watching this when i was a kid. Don Music was one of my favorite sesame street characters when i was a kid.
I love this.
i used to be frightened when he don’t finish his songs then bashes his head on the piano.
Don Music!…I’ll Never Get It ..>NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!
I swaer he had to have a huge permanent knot form all the times he bashed his head against the piano.
He reminds me of Bacharach.
